Where does the temperature of the DIMM come from? Is the sensed temperature Tambient or Tcase?
The temperature is read from the thermal sensor in the SPD EEPROM. The SPD EEPROM is divided into two types: with a thermal sensor and without a thermal sensor. Whether the SPD EEPROM has a thermal sensor or not depends on the product category.
According to the SPD EEPROM specification definition, the temperature sensed by the thermal sensor built into the SPD EEPROM belongs to Tambient.
