Enabling a More Balanced and Efficient Server Performance

INTRODUCTION

A US partner sought Innodisk's help with a motherboard design, which is in question of a hardware load-balancing device that helps direct computers to individual servers in a network. The challenge was meeting space, performance, and longevity requirements. With less experience in memory and storage, the partner turned to Innodisk for a solution. Innodisk provided SSDs for OS boot-up and storage, along with high-performance DRAM, while also offering technical guidance throughout the design process.

  • mSATA MLC SSD
  • DDR4 SODIMM DRAM Module
CHALLENGE
  • Uncertainty about available options

The partner needed assistance with both product choice and design.

  • Fitting and size constraints

The small size of the device put significant restrictions on component size and fittings.

  • Longevity concerns

The partner needed robust DRAM, and was uncertain if consumer-grade offers would be up to par.

IMPLEMENTATION

Innodisk provided a viable solution from the start, offering continuous support throughout the design process via multiple communication channels. With compact form factors and smart mechanical fittings, space constraints were easily mitigated. Additionally, by supplying industrial-grade DRAM ICs, Innodisk alleviated customer concerns about longevity and quality, ensuring the reliability of the solution over time.

OUTCOME

With Innodisk’s expertise and strong lines of communications, the partner promptly had a viable and easy-to-implement solution on the table. When other issues popped up during the design process, Innodisk was present through multiple channels for input and assistance. This case amply demonstrates the importance of technical know-how and how it is utilized from the initial customer meeting all the way to product completion.
